Pigmentation concerns including sun damage and uneven skin tone

Pigmentation

Pigmentation refers to uneven skin tone caused by increased melanin production within the skin. It may present as dark spots, patches or generalised discolouration and can affect overall skin clarity, radiance and uniformity.

At MiSkin, we assess the underlying triggers contributing to pigmentation and develop personalised treatment strategies designed to regulate melanin activity, support healthy skin renewal and maintain long term skin stability.

Pigmentation develops when melanocytes, the cells responsible for producing pigment, become overactive and produce excess melanin. This results in visible areas of discolouration within the skin.

Common forms of pigmentation include sun induced pigmentation, hormonally influenced pigmentation such as melasma, and post inflammatory pigmentation following acne, injury or skin trauma. Pigmentation may also present as dullness or uneven tone where skin lacks clarity and radiance.

The type and depth of pigmentation influence how the skin responds to treatment.
